Equipment & Sites

When I was in Japan, I was given my name in kanji script.  There are many different choices for symbols for “Dai An,” but the final choice made which had two interpretations “big safety,” and “lucky day.”     大安       I have to admit it was a very good choice for the symbolization of my name, and I live up to that in my choice of equipment for my events which I hope are lucky days for the participants!

I run my events in three locations: (1) indoors at Newfoundland Athletic Dog Association, Inc. and outdoors at (2) the Southlands Park in St. John’s, NL or (3) Fun Thyme Agility in Conception Bay South, NL.   All venues are excellent in footing, and location.  NADA, Inc. uses DoggyJump jumps, 24″ Galican salon-door breakaway tyre, Hill Agility rubberized A-Frame, Galican Intercan Dogwalk, Galican Intercan Teeter, Galican Intercan Slalom (weaves), Galican 3m, 5m, and 6m tunnels, Galican and Rainbow Agility Designs tunnel bags. The flooring is Greatmats Dog Agility mats which offer superior traction and shock absorption.

NADA Inc. Facility

For the outdoor venues, I either use the equipment on site at Fun Thyme Agility (possibly supplemented with my own), or use my own equipment. Fun Thyme Agility has all rubberized contacts, DoggyJump wing jumps with 5′ poles, Galican 24″ breakaway tire, Schauenberg tunnels with Galican tunnel bags, and locally sources weaves with metal base and striped PVC poles.  I loan my dogwalk, teeter and panel jump for the local CKC Agility trials.

Southlands Park, St. John’s, NL.  100’x100′ ring with snowfencing and catchment areas.  For trials, I tend to go with 90×100 to provide more space for competitors/crating.67802096_10157747056287150_3187658378436411392_n (2).jpg

Special Jumps: CKC Panel Jump

Special Jumps: Tyre (UKI, AAC), Tire (CKC), Long/Broad Jump (UKI only), Wall Jump (UKI, AAC)

Contacts (Gallican Intercan Dogwalk and Teeter; Agility World trapezoid A-Frame – all rubberized)

Weaves, Tunnels and Regular Jumps (photos mostly taken by Jef Combdon) – weaves can be used as one set of 6 or one set of 12.  I also have a full set of 2×2 weaves, but those are not used for competition.

Safety for course numbering as well. I have multiple sets of Agility Soft Number course numbers and letters for courses. These are fantastic as you can see the numbers under the wing when it is a backside approach! (I also have a purple set – couldn’t get enough of these!)

With gorgeous ribbons for titles (UKI Champion titles are on the outside, Beginner to Senior level titles in the middle)
